Writing words down on paper has a higher level of connectivity to the brain in comparison to typing words on the laptop/computer.
Why would I write since it takes so much longer?
The key word is connection.
Writing material on paper helps retain the information easier and longer. Different areas of the brain are involved and helps create higher memory. While typing, clicking on the key gives the same formation of each letter every time. When you write, every letter is a new letter and requires higher workload. This tricks the brain to remember writing > typing.
Effort into writing makes the journalist follow through whatever tasks they set. Because it took time to write it down!
